Plot Summary
This movie is the story of a widower Frank who decides to meet his children to see if everybody’s fine. First he visits his son David, after waiting a while outside David’s apartment Frank leaves a message for him. Later he visits his daughter Amy and her family; He feels the house atmosphere a little awkward but still says nothing and moves on to meet his son Robert. Hoping he would see his son conducting the orchestra, he in turn discovers that he is just a percussionist there. Lastly he meets his daughter Rosie where he finds out that the fancy apartment she has been showing off to him actually is not hers, but he leaves without confronting her. During his journey back home, Frank gets a heart attack and he sees a dream where he is sitting with his children and they tell truth about each other’s life they had been hiding from Frank. Later his children tell him that his son David is dead due to drug overdose. Frank realizes that while he was encouraging his children to do the best, he actually was pressurizing them and making them conscious about his expectations from them.
My Rating: 3.5/5
Reason
The two aspects of the movie I found interesting were: one the realisation of a father that he should not expect a lot from his children instead he should be content in whatever they do and choose for their lives; second that the children should not hesitate in discussing their problems and aspirations with their parents.
